Goshute Tribe celebrates their natural spring water on World Water Day

Goshute Tribe celebrates their natural spring water on World Water Day --

Members of the Confederated Tribes of the Goshute Reservation participated in World Water Day. Participants ranged in age from 18 months to 70 years old. Tribal members and leaders pledged on Thursday not to use water, including drinking, from Monday morning until noon and not until we completed our walk and an elder blessed the water.

We gathered at the upper reservation on Spring Creek road and walked 1 and a quarter miles to the spring. We walked through snow and muddy conditions, [and] fortunately the weather was nice.

Spring creek is the location of where the water comes out of a cave and flows north. [The spring is a source of water for tribal members.]

It was a learning experience for everyone, especially the children. Water is the blood of mother earth and all living things survive because her blood.
